Our Story

Who We Are

We are a collection of people who love to share their love of sewing while making Nashville a welcoming place for refugees. Want to join us in our quest to make a difference in people's lives? Find out on our Donate page how you can offer your talents to help as a volunteer, donate financially or donate supplies.

"When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must
be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt." Leviticus 19:33-34
Sew For Hope began as a ministry of Thriftsmart teaching a group of 4 Bhutanese students. That was all it was ever supposed to be... or so we thought! The ladies kept coming back to learn more and also brought their friends who wanted to learn to sew. In December 2020 we anticipate having over 250 participants who have graduated from the Sew For Hope Basic Sewing program, received professional training, a certificate, sewing tools, and a new sewing machine to help them begin their own business or become employed in a sewing related field.
Sew For Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax exempt charitable organization.
