We are recruiting lead instructors for Spring 2018 semester. Our curriculum is already set with great visuals to guide you through each project. All supplies and classroom kits are pre-prepared and ready for you to step into the classroom and enjoy connecting with the 4 refugee women in your class. We follow the MNPS school calendar and take off all days that school is off. Positions available are Tuesday 9-11:45, Tuesday 12:15-3, Wednesday 9-11:45, Wednesday 12:15-3. You will go through a teacher training course to prepare you to teach each project.
Current Volunteer Needs
A volunteer is needed to help us organize our fabrics to make them more accessible for use in student made garments. Fabric will need to be sorted, measured, tagged with length and width,then organized by size. Sewing experience is not required.
This position is responsible for assisting in a class along with a lead instructor and translator. Our small class size of 4 makes this an easy task. This involves being able to listen to the instructor and help the students understand how to complete the tasks for that day's lesson. Some sewing experience is needed. Sessions are 3 hours. We have three availabilities on Tuesday Morning 9-12, Tuesday Afternoon 12-3, and Wednesday afternoon 12-3.
PR and Marketing
Are you gifted in social media, PR, advertising, etc.? If so, this may be your spot at Sew For Hope. Sewing experience is not required. This position is responsible for promoting Sew For Hope to the public and to corporate sponsors. Experience is needed in PR, marketing, social media, website, etc. And will work directly with the event coordinator and the director. Hours are flexible.
This position involves researching, planning, organizing and executing public events like craft fairs, fundraising events, public project demonstrations, etc. This position requires good organizational skills, ability to communicate with others and experience in event planning. The hours are flexible and you will work both onsite and offsite.
